Harry Potter Themed Cafe in NW Brisbane

I had a dear friend visiting Brisbvegas from Melbourne and she is a massive Harry Potter fan 🧙🏼‍♀️

I had seen The Owlery Cafe - a Harry Potter-themed cafe on Tiktok and knew I wanted to add it to the itinerary full of plans I had for her and her offspring.

The cafe is located at 18-20 Station St, Samford Village, QLD 4520, and the suburb has the cutest town vibes to it. I fell in love with this little town so much so I looked up realestate.com.au to check out property prices in the area, ready to move my whole family there, only to discover the property prices were well above even my only-in-my-head, imaginary budget.

I knew I had made the right decision coming here because the minute I saw Nil's face light up (said visiting friend) when she realised the theme. It was her birthday that day, so I hadn't told her where we were going.

I had made the error of not looking up the closing times, though. We had made our way there for a late lunch, arriving at 1:30 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon when the cafe closed at 2 p.m., so there weren't many food options by then.

From what I can tell, the cafe doesn't have a cooking kitchen, so the menu consists mainly of coffee, cakes, sandwiches, and quiche.

We ordered iced chocolates with gold sparkling chocolate sprinkled on the top and spent time exploring.

I have never seen Harry Potter. Having grown up in a Pentecostal church in the 90's and early 2000's, this movie was definitely on the forbidden list due to the witchcraft elements, but what I do love is a good-themed venue. I LOVE Movie World for this reason! 🎢 As we walked around Nil explained the different areas to me. These included:

  • A car and telephone box from the movie

  • The Store of Requirement - Somewhere to buy lots of Harry Potter merch, including wands, fames, his face on everything like watches and t-shirts, and so much more

  • The Owlery Cafe itself

  • A dining room

  • Tables made to look like books for legs

  • Flying creatures

While you wouldn't go here specifically for the food, it's a cute little place to add to the Brisbane bucket list 🪣
